17.  HAND PUPPET CONSTRUCTION AND DECORATION OF A PUPPET THEATRE

Day 1, Learn how to make & decorate hand puppets, working on pre-sculpeted puppet heads with a choice of cats, dogs or rabbits.  Painting techniques for executing the fur and facial details will be demonstrated, as well as adorning the bodies wit charming costume details using various fabrics, trims, lace etc.  If you wish to supply your own fabrics, the most suitable are thin cottons, felt, poly cottons & silks.  Day 2, using a pre-built puppet theatre, you will learn how to paint & embellish your theatre with a variety of theatrical techniques, utilizing paint, paper fabrics you will create an illusion of ornate historic theatre details, to provide a wonderfully magical effect.  Bring sharp scissors.  A good light with extension cord and magnifier are highly recommended.  Some prior experience in working in miniature scale is strongly recommended.

All supplies are provided by the instructor except as indicated,

however, students are welcome to bring their own tools & supplies.
